a psalm for bleak & gloomy days
If I were superstitious
I might have been suspicious
Believing no auspicious news
Would reach my ears today.
It fueled my skepticism
And budding pessimism
To find myself enweathered by
Such gloomy cloudy grey.
As within, so without:
The skies reflect my doubt
While everywhere about me
Seemed that sadness held full sway.
When strength is overtaken
And courage slow to waken
Although my heart feels shaken
Dare I dream a different day?
It will not rain forever
So while we weep together
I’ll trust that tears will never
Wash that seed of hope away.
